George Strait with Reba McEntire was born in Poteet, Texas and grew up in Pearsall, Texas. George Strait with Reba McEntire began playing in a rock band in high school but later switched to country. After high school George Strait with Reba McEntire enrolled at Texas State University but dropped out and married his high school sweetheart in Mexico. He soon enlisted in the army and was stationed in Hawaii. While there, George Strait with Reba McEntire began to play with an Army sponsored band. George Strait with Reba McEntire was honorably discharged from the army in 1975 and returned to Southwest Texas State University, graduating in 1979 with an agriculture degree.
